Kathy Riggs has been an artist all her life. She’s recently moved to NC from northern NM where she owned a successful pottery and gallery for over 40 years..In retirement Kathy has been able to spend more time exploring watercolor and pastels. Her formal art experience began at Bennington College in Vermont.
She has taken workshops with watercolor master Lynn McLain, abstract artist Ruth Armitage, water color artist Jeanne Hyland, watercolorist and oil painter, Martha Manning and botanical artist Lisa Coddingham . She is currently studying with pastel artist, Maureen O’Neill at Barton College. In her gallery she enjoyed carrying painters she admired and is influenced by them, especially Randall David Tipton.
In addition to painting Kathy is an avid birder and kayaker. Nature is her inspiration and place of peace. She lives in Wilson with her husband Jake and her dog Zach.
